Flying cockroaches? Don't tell my wife, she'd scream if she even knew I was reading about them. Out here in the southern U.S. they are officially known as palmetto bugs, but my wife will insist they are still cockroaches.

It makes our 24+ hour trip from Alaska to Chicago with the boys at 4 months seem like a walk in the park.

Ahhh...the joys of not living on the mainland (or the Lower 48).

Have a wonderful holiday!

I'm SO jealous. I want to believe you live on the Big Island...but can't be certain. Though if you do, I'm doubly jealous...we honeymooned there and I just LOVED it. So beautiful.

This was brilliant. Seriously.

We have 24 hours with of flights with twin 2 year olds in a few months time. I'm already feeling twitchy over the idea of it.

Two things:

Now I want a yurt.

I LOVE the idea of using a staple gun on cockroaches. Probably not so reliable, but the immense satisfaction you must have gotten when you nailed (no pun intended) one.

Brilliant post! I'll link you as soon as the caffeine kicks in.

This is why I love Oregon - no natural disasters and no large insects or spiders! I am a HUGE baby when it comes to crawling (and slithering) things.

But I'm crazy jealous of your sunshine. And banana trees?!?! We each eat a banana a day, so that's four bananas a day, 28 a week. I am constantly buying bananas - I want a banana tree!
