It all started with a comment on my last post. Carrie, intuitive goddess that she is, read my resignation from motherhood and suggested that maybe, just maybe, it was time for another vacay. Girlfriend was preaching to the choir yo. I pricelined as fast as my fingers would carry me to the 4 star resort on the sunny side of the island for the price of a 2 star on the wet side. Then I called my husband. “I might have done something…” I blurted out. “My blog friend made me do it!” Jungledad laughed, promised to buy bubbly on his way home to toast Carrie’s brilliance, and less than 24 hours later, we were on the road. So how did it go? Well…

We ran for the waves

and cheered when we got there.

Built a scale model of Machu Picchu…

climbed inside and watched the sunset.
And somewhere along the way, learned a very valuable lesson.

Parenting

is a lot like living in paradise.

What’s the point if you can’t enjoy it?

Oh, I am so jealous of your mini-vacay-ing! What a blast. And you’re absolutely right, when you live in paradise, why not milk it for all it’s worth?
Wow – that looks so amazing. It’s gotta be hard to live so far away from what you’re used to but I think these mini-vacays make up for it!!
I think I need a vacation if that made me all teary-eyed, do you agree? Actually, when the title of your post came up on my Google Reader I thought – JungleMom has taken FOUR minivacas since I started back at work and I’ve taken ZERO. We are looking forward to our Martha’s Vineyard vacation in a few weeks. I love, love the photos of your husband with the girls.
The last picture says it all… I don’t even need to ask if you had a good time.
Thanks for toasting my “brilliance”.
I’m glad you guys found your Paradise again! See? All you needed was a little break from the ol’ routine.
Gasp. So completely wonderful. My husband always said that whether it was God or biological imperative, the look of twin babies sleeping is so endearing, so entrancing, that you’ll find the chaos preceding it far more bearable.
Those pictures of your husband with the babies….those are simply ones to place somewhere where they can be easily retrieved when the vacay is too far away, and you need a quick fix.
Precious.
That brought tears to my eyes.
(Okay, so I’m emotional. But seriously, yay!)
What a gorgeous post!
This post made me all weepy…seriously. I love love love the pics of your husband with each of the girls! There is just something so sweet about it…you can just feel the love by looking at the pic.
I’m so glad your mini-vacay went well…it looked heavenly!! We’re going on our mini-vacay next week and I have a feeling it won’t even come close to looking as relaxing and happy as yours did!
