The other night around 4am Lulu started to kick up. She wouldn’t settle and I kept thinking- dear God, no!!! I was exhausted, Jungledad still on the volcano (but he comes back tomorrow- woot!) and my body refusing to move. Then it happened. The earth moved- for real. There are earthquakes on this island all [...]

You Won’t Say “Duck” but you’ll say “Viagra” ? Explain!

We are having a devil of a time teaching the girls to speak. Mumu prefers to call everything “this” or “that.” My husband has been trying exhaustively to get her to say “Duck” to the rubber duckies in the bath every night. No dice.
A few nights ago we were watching the news, and I swear, [...]

Whew we! Just got back from the 1 year physical and wondering why no one told me about the drama that is ‘the TB test.” I was kind of thrown when the doc said we’d be doing it along with the usual suspects (MMR, Chicken Pox, etc). I’ve certainly had TB tests before. I do [...]

Yesterday our precious little Valentines Day twinnies turned 1. I had planned on reflecting back on all the high and lows of the first year of babyhood and motherhood, but instead all I can think about is the other young attendees to the birthday party, how naughty they were, and how much I LOVED IT.
Don’t [...]

So nowadays I am treating Mommy Movie Night as an anthropological expedition. After the merging the two clans (one certifiable), what can I do but swallow my fear and find a way to cope? Not going was not an option. Bride Wars, yo.
In the end the movie was so-so, I’ve forgotten most [...]

The girls are worshiping the dehumidifier like a false idol. They hug it, talk to it, turn its knobs and squeal with delight when it starts. Its love. I tried to explain the weirdness of this to some friends and fam, most of them New Englanders, but the humor was lost. Dehumidifiers don’t translate.
I get [...]
To Friend or Not to Friend: That is Facebook

Aw geez, I’m writing about Facebook. What have I been reduced to?
Anyway, I have a bit of a dilemma. I will preface this by saying that I resisted Facebook for as long as possible out of fear that random people from my past would hunt me down and bother me. I caved in when my [...]

Until recently, I was unaware of the power of Cheerios. I thought they were just a breakfast cereal, silly me! No one told me about the magical powers they have over children, how the girls can be going nuclear, and all I have to do is drop a little pile of Cheerios in front of [...]
